Eva Novak

Eva Novak ( born February 14, 1898 in St. Louis, Missouri, † April 17, 1988 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California ) was an American actress, whose career highlight was in the silent film era.

Life

Eva Novak was born in 1898 in St. Louis, Missouri. As a teenager, she came to Hollywood. She began her career as one of the Sennett Bathing Beauties, was promoting Mack Sennett actresses who were photographed in bathing suits. She has appeared in slapstick comedies, and in ten western with Tom Mix (including in Sky High and Trailin ), as its romantic interest she acted in the films. She also played three times on the side of William S. Hart.

At the suggestion of Tom Mix Novak began to perform his own stunts. In 1921 she married the stuntman William Reed, with whom she went late 1920 to Australia, where they turned some Western. In the 1930s, Novak returned to the States and appeared in a few films of his friend John Ford. These included The Devil Captain, Ringo and until the last man. Until 1966, she appeared occasionally in other small roles (partly without being called in the credits ), with the end of the silent film era had their popularity decreased dramatically.

Novak died aged 90 of pneumonia at the Motion Picture Country Hospital in Los Angeles. Her grave is located on the San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Woodland Hills.

Her older sister Jane Novak (1896-1990) was also an actress.
