Evagetes

Evagetes ingennus

Evagetes is a genus of Wegwespen ( Pompilidae ). In Europe, 23 species occur.

Features

The species of the genus Evagetes is small to medium sized Wegwespen. Head and thorax are finely structured. The frons is viewed from the side convex. The inner edges of the usually large compound eyes are parallel. The more or less convex front plate ( clypeus ) is short and broad. Their Apikalrand is shortened, or more or less concave. The labrum is partially obscured by the face plate. The mandibles are pointed with an additional tooth. The antennae are short and strong, the third term is not longer than the scape. In females, the sensor in the middle are the thickest, the third segment is less than 2.8 times as long as thick. On the ventral side of the segment is more or less flattened. In the males, the antennal segments are approximately the same thickness, the third segment is less than 1.4 times as long as thick. The Metapostnotum is much shorter than the metanotum that this sometimes concealed media generally. The finely textured propodeum is increasingly curved backwards. The wings are tinted more or less brownish, they have a darker Apikalrand. The Flügelmal ( pterostigma ) is small. The legs are spined, the Tarsalkamm is well trained. The jaws are serrated. The claws of the Vordertarsen are asymmetrical in males. The interior is small, curved and bifid, the outer is longer, straight and has a tooth.

Way of life

The wasps are Kleptoparasiten in nests of other Wegwespen from the genera Arachnospila, Anoplius, Episyron and Pompilus.
