Evagoras II

Evagoras II, ancient Greek Εὐαγόρας, also Evagoras was, (since before 351 BC), king of the ancient city-state of Salamis on Cyprus and the Persian satrap.

Evagoras I. was probably a son of Nicocles and a grandson of Evagoras He was a persian friendly politicians, which is why he was overthrown by 360 BC by insurgent Cypriots under the leadership of his half- nephew and later successor Pnytagoras and sold by the island. As compensation Evagoras received by the Persians the king rule over the Phoenician Sidon: but because of his inability he was chased from office and fled back to Cyprus, where he was captured and executed.
