Evan S. Connell

Evan Shelby Connell, Jr. ( born August 17, 1924 in Kansas City, Missouri; † January 10, 2013 in Santa Fe, New Mexico) was an American writer.

Life

Evan Shelby Connell Junior was the doctor's son Evan S. Connell, Sr. (1890-1974), and Ruth Elton Connells. He made his 1941 graduation from Southwest High School in Kansas City and then studied at Dartmouth College and received his bachelor's degree in 1947 in English at the University of Kansas. He also studied creative writing at Columbia University and Stanford University.

With The Anatomy Lesson Connell 1957 published his first short story collection. It was followed the next year with Mrs. Bridge, his first novel, which was translated in 1960 as Lovable Mrs. Bridge in the German language. Together with the published in 1969, Mr. Bridge, both novels were filmed on the published 1990 film drama Mr. & Mrs. Bridge. In addition, his 1985 published history book Son Of The Morning Star was: Custer And The Little Bighorn to the 1991 broadcast television film adapted General Custer's last battle.
