Evan Stewart

Evan Stewart ( born June 11, 1975 in Harare ) is a former Zimbabwean water Springer. He started in the art of jumping from 1 -meter and 3 -meter board. Stewart won a world championship titles and several medals at the Commonwealth Games, he participated in three Olympic Games.

Stewart began at the age of twelve years with the water jump. He came to the little-known sport in his home because his father built a pool with 1 -meter springboard in the garden. Already in 1992, Stewart took part in the Olympic Games in Barcelona, ​​but the 3 -meter board as he missed the 20th place in the final. Two years later he celebrated his greatest sporting success. At the World Championships in Rome in 1994, he was the 1 -meter board surprisingly world champion. At the Commonwealth Games in Victoria he also won bronze of the 1 -meter board and silver from the 3 -meter board. In 1996 he started again at the Olympics in Atlanta, he reached the semi-finals of the 3- m- board and missed the final 13 as just barely. Again, two years later he started again at the World Championships. In Perth, he reached this time from the 1 -meter board in sixth. In the same year he won at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur on 1 -meter board. Stewart took in 2000 for the third year in a row at the Olympic Games in part. In Sydney, however, he could not build on the previous performance as the 38th from 3 -meter board. Following the Games, he ended his active career.

Between 1993 and 1997, Stewart studied at the University of Tennessee and launched for the sports team of the University, the Volunteers. He won a total of two tracks in college championships and was elected in 1996 to the diver of the year in college area.

His mother Anthea Stewart was part of the national hockey team of Zimbabwe, who won gold at the 1980 Olympics.
