Evermode of Ratzeburg

Evermod (* around 1100 in Belgium, † February 17, 1178 in Ratzeburg ) was the first bishop of Ratzeburg. Because of its activity in the colonization of the East, he is also known as Apostle of the Wends.

Life

Evermod was from 1120 one of the most important followers of the founder of the Premonstratensian, Norbert of Xanten, whom he had met in Cambrai. Both fought together against representatives of " heresies " as Tanchelm.
