Everyday (video)#Noah Kalina

Noah Kalina (born 4 July 1980) is an American photographer.

Kalina grew up in Centerport, New York and attended Harborfields High School. He currently lives in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Works

In his works, Kalina often busy with portraits and people photography, but also with new perspectives on everyday places and events, such as in his photo series Labs At Night for SEED Magazine. His paintings are often characterized by very high contrast exposures, shadows and strong color effects that arise not only by the nature of the recording, but also by digital postprocessing.

In addition to exhibition projects, which could be seen among others in the Musée de l' Elysée in Lausanne FORMA, Milan, and numerous New York galleries, Kalina also photographed for well-known bands and artists such as Air, Jon Spencer and Sigur Rós. For four years, Kalina was also as the main photographer of various City Guides (for example, AOL City Guide and Eater.com ) active, resulting in the project Interiors developed in the course of Kalina took pictures about 3000 deserted interiors of restaurants in New York.

The general public Kalina was known by that produced by him Viral Video Everyday, which he presented to various video portals on the Internet in August 2006 and was called alone on YouTube over 25 million times. The success of the video sparked debate about whether the projects of this kind are photographic art. Richard Benson, professor of photography at Yale University, the project was called a " complete waste of time ." William Ewing, director of the Musée de l' Elysée, on the other hand said Kalina's work had " helped to establish a new form of portraiture ." Everyday now part of the permanent collection of the Austin Museum of Art
