Excursus

A digression is in the text of scientific papers inserted or annexed, independent and self-contained digression or digression. In a broader sense, it refers to a short written report or a subject-based supplement in a lecture.

In the important digression ' is the term from the Latin ex = ..., from, out ' and cursus = 'Run' ( to currere, run ').

Important in an excursus is that it logically classifies despite the unity in the overall context of the work. Only then gives a digression also a sense, bringing in particular in a scientific elaboration of an added value. That is, it must be present on the topic of the whole text, and this must be explicitly pointed out a reference.
