Executive Tower, Montevideo

The Torre Ejecutiva is a building in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo.

It is a 56 meter high 12 - storey building with 29,400 m² of floor space in the center of Montevideo. It is located at Plaza Independencia next to the Palacio Estévez also located there. It was inaugurated after a 46- year-long procedure with an unusually long time from start of construction in 1963 until the beginning of the use until May 25, 2009. Originally it was planned that it should be the Uruguayan judicial system available as Palacio Judical. However, after the Frente Amplio government took over the business of government, decided this to consummate the purchase of the building and began the completion in 2008.

Currently, there the seat of the President of Uruguay, who has his office in the top three floors of the Torre Ejecutiva that the President's exclusive disposal. The lower nine floors are divided into two sectors. There, the following institutions are in the first section overlooking the Plaza Independencia is home to: Office of the President, the Oficina de Planeamiento y Presupuesto ( the budget and planning office) and the Oficina Nacional de Servicio Civil ( the National Civil Service Office). In the second sector on the Calle San José administrative offices and international organizations are housed.

The construction of the building in the second phase of completion took over the architectural consortium Estudio Cinco.
