Exome

As exome is known in genetics all of the exons of an organism, so all sections of that code for proteins potentially. The exome is not mapped to the transcriptome, on the one hand, not all potential protein-coding genes are actually active, and, on the other hand, a gene to several different RNA templates can be processed ( splice variants ).

In medical diagnostics, it proves to be useful, rather than whole-genome sequencing the exome only because there almost all disease-causing mutations are found, but the human exome represents only one percent of the genome.
