Exoprosopa jacchus is a fly from the family of Wollschweber ( Bombyliidae ).

Features

The flies reach a body length of about 10 millimeters. The kurzrüsselige type is colored characteristically lively. The head is brown black and has a pointedly coated face. This and the mouth rim are yellow-brown. The face and also the lower part of the forehead is covered with golden yellow scales hairs on the back of the head scalation is brighter. The thorax is brown black colored and marked with lines of yellow and white scales and dandruff hair. Behind the shoulders there are silvery- white scales tuft. The abdomen is hairy black on the sides, on the second to sixth tergite there are spots with yellow shed hair. The wings are mottled black and light.

Occurrence and life

The species is distributed from the Mediterranean to Central Asia. They are found particularly in the late summer in sandy and rocky areas.
