Exploded view drawing

An exploded drawing ( also explosion graphic, exploded view ) is a type of representation for drawings and pictures that breaks down a complex subject into its component parts shows (also shown in perspective ). The individual parts or components shown are spatially separated from each other, i.e. as if they were going on an exploded apart.

In this representation, the exchange ratio of the whole to its parts and their situation is clarified. Explosive representations allow to display the function and assembly of assemblies and individual components made to determine with specified part numbers, for example, the total figure for this spare part and its bearing number.

This type of presentation can be found in different areas of use: as an information graphic, this presentation ( including virtual, interactive catalogs) comes with instruction and spare parts catalogs for use. For installation instructions, the assembly and disassembly sequence of individual parts is explained with explosion graphics. In technical drawings in engineering complex machines are clearly displayed in this way. In construction, the addition of various components or the structure of a building can be illustrated.

In some exploded perspective is chosen so that the three coordinate axes are set in each of the display at an angle of 120 °. Thus any distance in one of these directions has the same scale and can be accurately measured. For distances that are not parallel to one of the coordinate axes, one can measure several individual distances and come up with the Pythagorean theorem to an accurate result.
