Extended Service Set

An Extended Service Set (ESS ) is a component of many wireless Local Area Networks. Each ESS includes a Basic Service Set (BSS ) or more coupled BSS and turns on the layer of Logical Link Control always represent as a single BSS

To enable an appropriate coupling, has an ESS via a Distribution System (DS). To specify this distribution system by specification avoids the IEEE 802.11 standard explicitly. However, a DS is not rare, for each BSS with a portal to other standards such as Ethernet requires a DS and is an ESS.
