Eyeborg

The Eyeborg or Eye- Borg is a cybernetic device that is used to perceive colors by using acoustic signals. It is for the blind or people with color blindness as deuteranopia ( green blindness ) or achromatopsia ( color blindness ) thought. A head-mounted camera records the colors that are located directly in front of the carrier, in sound waves that are played through a speaker in the ear of the wearer. The frequency of the tone varies depending on the color.

The first Eyeborg unit was established in 2003 in England by Adam Montandon in collaboration with Neil Harbisson, a color-blind artists developed. The invention was awarded under the project name Bridging the Iceland of the Colourblind the First Prize of the Innovation Award of the University of Plymouth, a prize, which is awarded to the best British new developments, and won the first prize in the category Content Tools & Interface Design of the euro Prix Multimedia Award in 2004.
