Origin and Meaning of the Name

The name Fabian (derived from Fabian ) described the membership of the Roman noble family of the Fabians. Its members bore the name Fabius. The origin is unclear, either from fabis (Latin ) = " noble " or faba (Latin ) = " The Bean".

The most famous son of the family is Fabius Maximus.
