Fabrice Muamba (2011)

Fabrice Muamba Ndala ( born April 6, 1988 in Kinshasa ) is a former English footballer. The defensive midfielder was born in Zaire was last of the 2008/ 09 season until the end of the 2011/12 season at Bolton Wanderers under contract.

Early life

Muamba was created in 1988 in Kinshasa, capital of Zaire ( now the Democratic Republic of Congo) born. His father fled in 1994 because of the political situation of the country and asked for asylum in the UK. 1999 his father was granted a permanent right to stay and he took his family to England after. Fabrice Muamba lived henceforth in the London Borough of Walthamstow and went to school there. Although he came to speak English until the age of eleven years and without a single word to London, he became the A-level education.

Club career

Muamba was included in the youth department of FC Arsenal in 2002 and came in August 2004 in the Academy of the club. In October 2005, he signed his first professional contract and gave a short time later in the League Cup against FC Sunderland his competitive debut.

For the 2006/07 season Muamba was awarded to the second division Birmingham City. After initial difficulties, he managed to play himself into the starting line- and occupied the place in central midfield. At the end of the season the club was on the second place in the table and rose to the Premier League. From the fans, he was elected "Young Player of the Season".

On 11 May 2007 Muamba signed a three -year contract with Birmingham, Arsenal received for the talent after club information, a transfer fee of four million pounds. After little more than a year he joined on 16 June 2008 for a transfer fee of five million pounds Bolton Wanderers.

Cardiac arrest and End of career

On 17 March 2012 at FA Cup match against Tottenham Hotspur, he collapsed in the 40th minute, after which the game was canceled. It took 78 minutes until his heart beating again. On April 16, 2012 Muamba was discharged from the hospital; some doctors called this quick recovery as a " medical miracle ". On August 15, 2012 Muamba then announced that he ended his active career.

National

As a naturalized Briton Muamba is for each of the four Home Nations (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland) is eligible to play. He has represented various English age classes in international meetings and was captain of the U19 national team. In the England Under-21 selection, he was first appointed in August 2007 for a friendly match against Romania. 2009 and 2011 he took part in the U-21 European Championship with England.
