Facundo Pieres

Facundo " Facu " Pieres ( born May 19, 1986 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine professional polo player with a handicap of 10, he is one of the best players in the world.

Life

As the second son of Gonzalo Pieres Polo legend Facundo Pieres Senior was born into a family of polo players. His siblings are Gonzalo Pieres Jr., also a professional polo player, Tatiana Pieres, Nicolas Pieres and Cecilia Pieres. He is also the brother of Mariano Aguerre, who is married to his sister Tatiana.

His career started in 1997 when he won the Copa Potrillos in Ellerstina Jr. Team, which was founded as a junior team for the Ellerstina Club from his father and the Australian media tycoon Kerry Packer. Since then he has played in Argentina, England and the USA. His successes include victories at the Hurlingham Open, Tortugas Open and the Jockey Club Open ( all in Argentina), among other tournament victories. In 2008 he won the Queen's Cup in England, although he could not participate in the finals due to an injury and was represented by his cousin Pablo Mac Donough.

In 2003, he played for the first time at the Argentine Open with. 2005 and 2007, his team Ellerstina narrowly lost the final, both times against La Dolfina. In 2008 he won again for Ellerstina playing the tournament in Tortugas and for the first time the Argentine Open. In an exciting match, which was again decided in extra time, Ellerstina beat La Dolfina team 13-12.

At age 19, he was promoted to handicap 10, sparking Adolfo Cambiaso, who was two months older than Facundo, from the youngest 10 - Goaler.
