Fadil Paçrami

Fadil Paçrami ( born May 25, 1922 in Shkodra, † January 16, 2008 in Tirana) was an Albanian writer, playwright and politician of the Party of Labour of Albania.

Biography

Ascent to the Speaker of Parliament, arrest and jail

After visiting the Franciscan College of Shkodra, he studied medicine at the University of Bologna. In 1942, he broke off his studies and participated then during the Second World War from 1942 to 1944 on the Communist anti-fascist war of independence.

He belonged to the existing 118 people from the Anti-Fascist Council of National Liberation, who was elected in May 1944 as a transitional Parliament by the Congress of Përmet and helped the Communists to take power. In 1945 he was elected a member of the Konstitutierenden Assembly ( Asamblea Kushtetuese ). In the following years he was first vice-minister of education and culture and thus representative of Sejfulla Maleshova before he Popullit 1948-1957 editor of Zëri i, the organ of the PPSh was.

In 1950 he was first deputy of the National Assembly ( Kuvendi Popullor ) and belonged to this as a representative of Peshkopia of the second term until 9 December 1973. In addition, he also spent several years as a member of the Central Committee (CC ) of the PPSh.

In addition, he was between 1 January 1965 to 18 March 1966 as a successor of Manush Myftiu Minister of Education and Culture. His successor in that office was Thoma Deljana. For several years he was also a member of the Union of Writers and Artists Central Committee and party secretary in the district of Tirana.

During this time, he was from 1970 to September 25, 1973 President of the People's Assembly.

In December 1972, he was one of those responsible for the implementation of the XI. Music festivals Festivali i Këngës, was played at the first Western-influenced music and young women were seen in miniskirts. The departure from the hitherto dominated by Socialist Realism Festival led to criticism within the leadership of the PPSh. On the 4th Plenum of the Central Committee of the PPSh, which took place from June 26 to June 28, 1973, he was severely criticized along with Todi Lubonja and accused both an undermining of the socialist party discipline.

At the same time he lost his functions within the PPSh and the Union of writers and artists who accused him of betraying the party and the Albanian people and described him as an opponent of the party and the nation. Great influence on his arrest had Nexhmije Hoxha, wife of the then First Secretary of the PPSh Enver Hoxha, who was also director of the Institute of Marxism -Leninism in Tirana. After he had lost his offices, he was arrested by the secret police Sigurimi on 21 October 1975, spent 18 months in custody before charges were brought against him by Western influences for sabotage of culture and infection of youth. A court sentenced him then in 1977 to 25 years' imprisonment, of which he served, including his detention on remand for more than fifteen years until his release on health grounds shortly before the collapse of communism in 1991.

Writing career

Fadil Paçrami was one of the most famous Albanian writers and playwrights of our time. In addition to his political career, he wrote to his disempowerment 13 plays, nine of which have been published.
