Since Faema doing a heat exchange tube which passes through the steam boiler and so heats the water einbaute, it was possible to carry cold water through the rotary vane pump. The hot water then passes through a diffusion block in the newly designed brew group, through which flows for temperature control with warm water. The E61 was after it was produced until 1966, replaced by the models E64 and E66.

The great success of E61 led to that all brewing groups are denoted by the same principle as the E61, including those to be built by other manufacturers. In the 1990s, a renaissance of brewing began.
