Fairline Boats

Fairline Boats Ltd. is a British shipbuilder based in Oundle at the Nene in Northamptonshire. 300 motor yachts are built in both Oundle and Corby and sold worldwide each year.

History

The company was founded in 1963 by Jack Newington. He had bought a former gravel pit on the Nene, where he established the company's premises. Five years later, in 1967, Newington was able to present his first boat. It was a handmade 19 -foot river cruiser.

In 1971, his son, Sam Newington, the company's management. Under his leadership, we built up a worldwide sales and the first time was also able to make a profit. By 1979, the number of employees had grown to 140. The turnover in the same year amounted to 5 million pounds sterling.

In 2002 the ten thousandth boat of the company was made ​​. On 31 May 2005 was followed by a management buyout through which one broke away from the Renwick Group. It cost 59.17 million euros. In 2006 Fairline was taken over by the London financial investor 3i.
