Geography

Falkenberg is a village with courtyards in single location in the Swipe between Seehausen ( Altmark) and Advertise (Elbe ).

History

The village was first mentioned in 1319 as Valkenberghe 1541 then with the current name form Falkenberg. The village was owned by a monastery in Braunschweig, until it came in 1683 as a fief to the family von Bülow.

Until 31 December 2009, Falkenberg was an independent municipality with the living quarters Biesehof and Shallun and belonged to the now defunct administrative community Seehausen (Altmark ) on.

Through a field amendment agreement, the municipal councils of the municipalities Falkenberg decided ( 19 January 2009 ), Lichterfelde ( 19 January 2009 ), Neukirchen (Altmark ) ( 9 January 2009 ) and Wendemark ( 16 January 2009 ) that their communities dissolved and merged into a new community with the name Altmärkische Wipe. This agreement was approved by the county as a lower municipal supervisory authority and entered into force on 1 January 2010.
