Technical Information

There are frequencies in the UHF band used to overcome the disadvantages of the fault situation in the 27 MHz band of the CB radio. FRS operates with frequency modulation (FM) instead of amplitude modulation (AM). The permitted transmission power is 500 milliwatts. There are a total of 14 channels available. The frequencies of channel 1 to 7 are General Mobile Radio Service GMRS shared with the service, which may be operated in the United States except under license. The owner of the other device category remain accessible in this way.

FRS Walkie-Talkies support CTCSS to make unwanted wireless traffic of other users inaudible. Although this is often sold by the manufacturers as a "private channel function ", it protects not against unauthorized listening, but only prevents interference from other co-users at well-attended channels.

Be approved only devices with fixed tailed antenna. The range is about 500 m to 1 km, strongly dependent on the environment. The operation of these devices is legal anywhere in Europe.
