Famine Stela

The fictional plot of the inscription dated in the eighteenth year of the reign of Djoser ( 3rd Dynasty ). The text relates how Djoser the field of Dodekaschoinos in Nubia to the god Khnum of Elephantine donated to end a seven- years of persistent famine, which was caused by the failure of the Nile flood. Prior to his official, Imhotep had researched and found out that the Nile springs from at Elephantine and will therefore dominated by Khnum in the ancient scriptures.

A connection between the products mentioned on this stele seven-year famine and the official Imhotep is also given by a long inscription in Saqqara. According to tradition, Imhotep is the builder of the Step Pyramid of Sakkara and the building complex. In an inscription found there a large number of hungry people is shown, which probably refers to the famine

The inscription is particularly known for its references to the Joseph story.
