Fantastic Planet

La Planète sauvage ( wild Planet) is an animated film from the year 1973. It is based on the book Oms en Série Pierre Pairault (1957).

Action

On the planet Ygam the Om, a human race, of the gigantic Draag be kept as pets for their children. Tiwa, a Draag girl must retain the Om Boy Terr after some Draag children have to drop his mother to death and then Tiwa has discovered him.

Tiwa receive daily lessons by means of a device that set it up on her head. Terrs neck ring, which prevents its escape ( by a kind of pager it is as if drawn by a magnetism to this unit) comes with Tiwas learning device in contact with which it can mitlernen their lessons. Finally, it is possible Terr to escape along with the learning device. He is one of Om - girl who lives in a group of wild Oms found. After initial resistance of free Om either use the learning device, in order to acquire the knowledge of Draag. The Draag now decide to perform an extermination campaign against the Om, Om, many leave their lives. A part we succeed to a kind of technology cemetery to escape. With two missiles surviving Om fly to a satellite, where they find dancing stone pairs. These are used by the Draag for their daily, vital meditation and reproduction. As the Om they begin to destroy by means of their missiles remains the Draag no choice but to seek its peace negotiations. The Om obtained with a new artificial satellite a new home, bringing the war to an end.

The planet Ygam appears in the film as a surrealistic world, with forays Terrs and free Om are repeatedly presented scenarios in which it downright absurd, sometimes Dada -style sequences occurs in nature. For example, a mother eats her newly hatched young, shortly after this was still caressing her.

La Planète sauvage is a French- Czechoslovak co-production, the drawings were complete in Czechoslovakia.
