Faremoutiers

Faremoutiers is a commune with 2465 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Seine- et- Marne in the Île- de -France region. Faremoutiers belongs to Arrondissement Meaux and the Canton Coulommiers and is a member of the Communauté de communes de la Brie des Moulins. The village lies in the valley of the river Aubetin.

History

Faremoutiers houses a to 620, founded by the holy abbess Far monastery. Ruothild, a daughter of Charlemagne was here from 840-852 abbess, her niece Bertha probably thereafter. The monastery was dissolved during the French Revolution, but it is inhabited since 1931.
