Farmington is a town with 41,000 inhabitants (2005 ) in San Juan County in the state of New Mexico, USA. The metropolitan area has a size of 69.9 km ².

History

Spanish immigrants moved late 18th century through the area of the later San Juan County, some of whom later settled in the East. Only in the mid-1870s, the population began to grow significantly and the settlement " Farmingtown " was created, which was later renamed to Farmington. As a result, developed in place an agricultural economy and the place was officially registered in 1901 as a community.
