Farpi Vignoli

Farpi Vignoli (* August 1907 in Bologna, † November 1997 ibid ) was an Italian sculptor. With his sculpture Sulkyfahrer he won at the art competitions of the Olympic Summer Games 1936 Gold (before Arno Breker ).

Farpi was the youngest of three sons and grew up near the Racecourse of Bologna ( ippodromo dell'Arcoveggio ).

In 1919 he was admitted to the Collegio Venturoli, where he studied with Enrico Barberi painting, sculpture and architecture. In that time, his close friendship with Paolo Manaresi and Luciano Minguzzi developed. After completion of the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna Vignoli received in 1934 a solo exhibition.

In the second Quadrennial di Roma (1935, at the invitation of Cipriano Efisio Oppo ), won the Sulkyfahrer the 4th prize. There were other athletes sculptures. In 1939 he moved theme and style. After the end of World War II, he devoted himself to painting in watercolor and was invited in 1949 to an exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts in London.
