Faryab Province

Faryab ( Pashto / Dari: فاریاب ) is a province in the north of Afghanistan, with 954 200 inhabitants. The provincial capital is called Maimana.

In the 1980s and 1990s, violent confrontations between various military leaders took place in Faryab. It was particularly important Faryab, because the boundary of the areas of influence of Abdul Rashid Dostum and Ismail Khan led through this province.
