Father Murphy

Father Murphy (AKA: Father Murphy ) is an American television series.

Action

The series takes place in the United States after the end of the Civil War. When a mine explosion 25 children, among them Will Adams (Timothy Gibbs ) and the siblings Lizette (Lisa Trusel ) and Ephrem Winkler (Scott Mellini ) have lost their parents. The common man John Michael Murphy ( Merlin Olsen ) are thereupon as a priest from to open an orphanage to which he kept the children from the labor camp. He is assisted by the teacher Mae Woodward (Katherine Cannon) and the miner Moses Gage ( Moses Gunn ). After Murphy's disguise is blown, he and Mae get married, and the couple adopted all 25 children.

Background

The series was conceived by Michael Landon. Often Father Murphy is referred to as a spin -off of Little House. However, Merlin Olsen and Moses Gunn played each a different role in Little House in Father Murphy.

Awards

1982 won the series the Young Artist Award in the category Best Television Series - Family Enjoyment, Timothy Gibbs also won the Best Young Actor in a Television Series category. The same award went to Gibbs in 1983 in the same category. In addition, Paul W. Cooper won the track Award for Best TV Script category. In 1983, his colleague Don Balluck the same award in the same category.
