FC Khimki

The FK Khimki (Russian футбольный клуб Химки, scientific transliteration Futbolny club Khimki ) is a Russian football club, which was founded in 1997. The seat of the association is in Khimki in the Moscow Oblast.

History

The club was formed in 1996 through the merger of Rodina Khimki Khimki and Nowator. In May 1996, Russia was in an amateur tournament with over 150 teams, including the FK Khimki instead. The winner of this tournament should ascend to the third league. The FK Khimki won the tournament in the final against Energia Ulyanovsk on penalties. Thus they were 1997 third division in Russia. 2000, the team rose up in Russia in the second division. Followed in 2007 by their first year in the Premjer League, which ended the club with a ninth place. The 2009 season ended the team on the bottom of the table and had therefore relegated to the second class first Russian division. After the season 2012/13 the club was relegated to the second division.

Stadium

From 2008 to 2009, the Arena Khimki, which has a capacity of 18,636 seats, the home stadium of FK Khimki. Since relegation from the Premjer league, the club plays its home matches at the 10,033 -seat Rodina Stadium.
