FC Nerds

FC Nerds is a television format that was developed by the Scandinavian media company Nordisk Film as a variant of Reality TV. It was first broadcast in Denmark as FC Zulu of TV 2 Zulu.

The film crew follows a group sporty inexperienced young men who are to be formed from a professional football coach to a team. At the end of the training there is then a match against a professional club.

FC Zulu was in 2005 for an International Emmy Award nomination in the category Non- Scripted Entertainment, but did not win it.

The program format was sent to Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, Iceland, Hungary and Australia. The German adaptation was broadcast in 2005 under the title Borussia Banana on RTL II. The team was coached by Lothar Matthäus, lost in the final mission, the much heralded -final match against an All -Star selection of FC St. Pauli.
