Federal University of Paraná

The Universidade Federal do Paraná ( UFPR ) is a Brazilian public university based in Curitiba, Paraná.

The university was founded on 19 December 1912 as the Universidade do Paraná. It is the oldest university in Brazil and is considered a landmark of the city of Curitiba.

This centrally located historic main building was built in the 1950s. The UFPR today consists of eleven faculties, including the 1973 Faculdade de Filosofia from, Ciências e Letras emerged Faculty of Humanities and the Arts ( Setor de Ciências Humana, Letras e Artes).
