Federico Chabod

Federico Chabod ( born February 23, 1901 in Aosta, † July 14, 1960 in Rome ) was an Italian historian.

Chabod came from the Aosta Valley. He studied with Pietro Egidi at Turin University and graduated in 1925 with the Diploma di Laurea from. Chabod published significant work on Niccolò Machiavelli and the Renaissance. He taught first in Perugia (since 1934), then in Milan (since 1938) and finally in Rome ( 1946-1960 ). In the forties, he fought for the autonomy of the Aosta Valley.

He was since 1948, corresponding, decent since 1956 member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, he also belonged to the British Academy, and honorary degrees from the universities of Oxford and Granada. In 1955 he was awarded an Antonio Feltrinelli Prize. After Chabod Rifugio Chabod is named, a location at the Gran Paradiso protection and cottage accommodation.
