Fehu ( ᚠ ) is the first rune of the Elder Futhark runic alphabet and the Old Norse with the phonetic value of f The reconstructed Proto-Germanic name means "cattle ", " prosperity " and appears in the runic poems as Old Norse fé, Old English feoh and gothic faihu. Such a correspondence between all the rune poems and the Gothic characters name is unusual and gives the reconstructed * fehu a high degree of certainty.
