Feleti Sevele

Frederick Vakauta Sevele (* July 7, 1944 in Nuku'alofa ) from 2006 to 2010, the Prime Minister of Tonga.

His education began with the visit of Apifoou College in Tonga. After that he went to the Fiji Islands in the St John 's College in Levuka on the island of Ovalau and later to the Marist Brothers High School in Suva. He attended St Bede 's College in Christchurch in New Zealand, before moving to the University of Canterbury.

He was selected as one of nine representatives of the people elected in 1999 in the Fale Alea and re-elected in 2002 and 2005. He was appointed commercial, labor and industry minister. In this role, he enabled by skillful negotiations Tonga's accession to the World Trade Organization in December 2005. At the beginning of 2006 he submitted to the Cabinet in response to the strike of the civil service in 2005 a bill for employment for public employees ( Employment Relations Bill) before, based on the Fijian same bill.

After the surprise resignation of Prince Ahoeitu Unuakiotonga Tukuaho on 11 February 2006, he became Prime Minister.
