Ovalau (Fiji)

Ovalau is the sixth largest island of Fiji and the administrative seat of Lomaiviti archipelago.

Until 1882, the town of Levuka was the capital of British colony of Fiji (English: Fiji ). It is approached at the time of cruise ships because of their architectural examples of time.

Geography

The land area is 102.3 km ², the island has a population of about 9000 people living in 23 villages and the former capital of Levuka. Ovalau is of volcanic origin and has a rugged, mountainous topography. In the center of the island, in the caldera, lies the village Lovoni, the highest peak is the Nadelaiovalau 625 meters above the sea.
