Felix Karl Ludwig Machatschki
Karl Ludwig Felix Machatschki (born 22 September 1895 in Arnfels, Styria, † February 17, 1970 in Vienna ) was an Austrian mineralogist.
Machatschki was appointed in 1930 as professor at the University of Tübingen. In 1941, he subsequently moved to the University of Munich and finally in 1944 to the University of Vienna. In his scientific work he created basic principles of general mineralogy and crystal chemistry.
In his home town Arnfels Machatschki was made an honorary citizen. The Austrian Mineralogical Society Founded in 1901, awarded in recognition of scientific publications from the entire field of mineralogy in international journals so far twice the Felix Machatschki price.
