Feodor Vassilyev

Fyodor Vasilyev (Russian Фёдор Васильев, scientific transliteration Fedor Vasil'ev; * to 1707 in Shuya, † after 1782 ) was a Russian peasant and multiple father of multiples with his first as well as his second wife. He is said to have fathered 69 children with his first wife. In the course of 27 pregnancies quadruplets four times, triplets seven times and 16 times twins were born.

The Nikolsky monastery in Shuya, where the births were registered, taught on 27 February 1782, the government in Moscow. According to the report Vasilyev married a second time, he fathered another 18 children; this time came in eight pregnancies twice triplets and twins to the world six times. At the time of the report ( 1782 ) of 75 -year-old Vasilyev " excellent health " was at and boasted of his 87 children. 1783 reported the London Gentleman's Magazine about Vasilyev. Since Vasilyev said to have fathered with both his first and his second wife, multiple births, the Gentleman's Magazine came to the conclusion that the extraordinary fertility is likely to be due more to him than his wives.

Vasileva children wealth found its way into the Guinness Book of World Records. The veracity of the reports, however, was repeatedly questioned in professional publications. Julia Bell with 1933, Biometrika open the question of whether the record were to be accepted, which it refers, inter alia, an attempt at verification by the Paris Academy of Sciences in the 1870s. In this case, no useful results were obtained, as was granted to the representatives of the Academy of the Russian Academy of Sciences requested only that an investigation is superfluous as in Moscow were still living family members.
