Ferdinand Havlík

Ferdinand Havlík ( born June 17, 1928 in Brno, † October 28, 2013 in Prague) was a Czech composer, bandleader, arranger and jazz musician (clarinet, alto saxophone).

Life and work

Havlík founded in 1959 with the actor Jiří Suchy in Prague musical theater semaphore, where he headed the Orchestr Divadla semaphore. In 1959 came Aufnahmemn for Supraphon. After the death of Jiří Šlitr in 1969 Havlík was the main composer of the semaphore. He also worked as a film composer in 1964, including for the movie Death offers (1979, directed by Ivo Toman ). In the 1970s he formed a swing band, with which he in 1979 and 1984 at the International Traditional Jazz Festival Breda 1979 occurred. In the field of jazz, he was involved 1959-1985 to 16 recording sessions.
