Ferdinand Jagemann

Ferdinand Chase Mann ( born August 24, 1780 in Weimar, † January 9, 1820 in Weimar ) was a German painter and brother of actress Caroline Hunt Man.

Life

He was the son of Christian Joseph Hunt (b. 1735 in Dingelstädt; † February 5, 1804 in Weimar), librarian of the Duchess Anna Amalia of Saxe- Weimar -Eisenach, was born. His sister was the mistress of the Duke Carl August (Sachsen -Weimar -Eisenach ), who had him trained at the Kassel painter Tischbein. He was a pupil of the court painter Georg Melchior Kraus in Weimar, a student of Füger in Vienna. This was followed by study trips to Paris and then to Italy.

He died as a professor of Princely free art school in Weimar. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe thought of him in a lodge speech.

Works

He painted many famous personalities of his time. However, he was known by various Goethebildnisse 1805, 1806, 1817 and 1819. Friedrich Schiller He also drew on his deathbed.
