Ferdinand Tönnies Society

Ferdinand Tönnies - Gesellschaft eV ( FTG ) was founded in 1956 in Kiel, at the initiative of the archivist William Kähler. It is a non-profit association. Under the Articles, the Company encourages students and working youth and civic education. As a scientific society, they also dedicated to the Articles of Association dealing with the work of the sociologist and philosopher Ferdinand Tönnies (1855-1936), one of the founders of German sociology. Its president since 2010 Alexander pedestrian, who was elected as the successor of the late Lars Clausen, Hans -Werner Prahl serves as Vice President. CEO is Uwe Carstens.
