Fernando Trueba

Fernando Trueba ( born January 18, 1955 in Madrid ) is a Spanish film director, screenwriter and film producer.

Life

Trueba began his film work as a film critic. His first major success as a director he had in 1980 with the film Opera fine. He celebrated the biggest international success with the film Belle Epoque, in 1993 numerous national and international awards received, including the Oscar for Best Foreign Film. The film meant for the actress Penelope Cruz as well as the international breakthrough for Trueba as a director. Trueba won a total of three times the Goya for best director.

Fernando Trueba is the brother of actor, screenwriter, director and film producer David Trueba.
