Ferocactus fordii

Ferocactus fordii is a species of the genus Ferocactus in the cactus family ( Cactaceae ).

Description

Ferocactus fordii grows mostly single with spherical to short cylindrical stems and reaches diameters of 25 centimeters stature heights of up to 50 centimeters. There are about 21 gehöckerte ribs available. The spines are gray. The four standing crosswise central spines are transversely banded, flattened or angular and be up to 7 inches long. Ferocactus is fordii widespread in the west of the Mexican states of Baja California in a small area along the coast.

The first description was in 1900 as Echinocactus fordii by Charles Russell Orcutt. Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose they put 1922 in the genus Ferocactus.
