Ferry-Dusika-Hallenstadion

The Ferry - Dusika Stadium is a multi-functional sports hall in Vienna's 2nd district Leopoldstadt. With up to 7,700 seats it is one of the largest athletics and Radhallen Austria. Is named the hall after former cyclist Ferry Dusika.

History

The Herbert Schürmann (1925-1994) planned structure was to replace the old, on July 11, 1931 together with Prater Stadium and Stadionbad opened outdoor velodrome in the years 1968-1976 at the edge of the Prater between the right bank of the Danube and the Ernst- Happel - Stadium (until 1992: Prater stadium) built and opened by the Mayor of Vienna, Leopold Gratz ( 1929-2006 ), ( verzeichnenden more than 9000 spectators ) in the context of an international Radmeetings on 20 April 1977, could undertake for the Dusika sizes of cycling. As a consequence of a report on Dusikas Nazi past a renaming of the stadium is checked. It is considered to name the hall after a woman and pioneer of cycling, such as Lizzi Wokrina, Cenci Flendrofsky or Elise Steininger.
