Fichtel Mountain Nature Park

The Fichtelgebirge Nature Park is located in the border triangle of Saxony, Bavaria and the Czech Republic and is 1020 km ². It is obtained by the association Fichtelgebirge Nature Park eV in Wunsiedel.

Landscape

The Fichtelgebirge with its forests and grazing lands located at the intersection of the Thuringian Forest, Franconia Forest, Upper Palatinate Forest and the Ore Mountains. The Fichtelgebirge is the main watershed of Germany and the headwaters of the River Main, Saale, Eger and the Naab. The highest elevations are the Schneeberg ( 1051 m) and the ox-head (1024 m). Main towns are Wunsiedel and Marktredwitz.

Leisure

Sports facilities include hiking, swimming, cycling and mountain biking, skiing in the winter and ice skating.
