The Government Robert Fico served as Government of Slovakia on July 4, 2006 to July 8, 2010 under Prime Minister Robert Fico.

In June 2006, new elections were held in Slovakia. They were necessary after Mikuláš Dzurinda's coalition government had lost the parliamentary majority, since they by the parties ANO (Alliance of the New Citizen ) and KDH ( Christian Democratic Movement) was gradually abandoned. KDH left the coalition in early February 2006 as their concern that Slovakia with the Vatican concluding an international treaty on a (Catholic) " conscience of title" for citizens of Slovakia, was rejected by Dzurinda.

The elections ended with a victory of former opposition politician Robert Fico and his party SMER -SD ( Direction - Social Democracy ). A week after the election, Fico concluded with the parties ĽS - HZDS under Expremier Vladimir Meciar and SNS (Slovak National Party) under Ján Slota a coalition agreement.

On 1 January 2009 the euro has been introduced. The government expects, despite the global financial crisis for the year 2009 for the time being (as of the end of December 2008) with a growth rate of 4.7 %, which would be the highest economic growth in the EU.

In the presidential elections on March 21, 2009 qualified Ivan Gašparovič with 46.27 % of the vote and Iveta Radicova with 37.70 % for the second round of voting. In the runoff election on 4 April 2009 Gašparovič won 55.53 % of the vote and is expected to remain so until 2014 in office.

In the parliamentary elections on 12 June 2010, the previous coalition lost its parliamentary majority; the bourgeois opposition, however, won more seats. As Prime Minister Fico could not form a new government, the government abdicated on July 8, 2010, when Iveta Radicova was appointed as the new Prime Minister.
