FIFA World Cup Trophy
The Coupe Jules Rimet (French for Jules Rimet Trophy ) was from 1930 to 1970 the trophy winning the World Cup Soccer Championships. Originally simply as World Cup ( Coupe du Monde) denotes it was renamed after the Second World War after the former FIFA President Jules Rimet in Coupe Jules Rimet.
Appearance
The Coupe Jules Rimet was a 35 cm large statue in sterling silver. She weighed 3.8 kg and standing on a blue base of lapis lazuli. There was a gold plaque engraved with the name of the trophy and the name of the nine world champions on the sides of the base. Was designed the statue of Abel Lafleur. How many previous cups it was carried out in the form of a woman; this should be the Greek goddess of victory Nike. She owned up stretched arms with wings. Under the statue, there was room for the names of the winners.
Winner
At the start of the Football World Cup 1930, it was announced that one association whose selection would succeed in the Cup to win three times, should keep this. With the third World Cup win of a Brazilian national team in 1970, thus the Coupe Jules Rimet came into the possession of the Brazilian Football Federation.

The reigning world champion was allowed, the rule, keep the trophy until the next World Cup. During the Second World War he was therefore in Italy; FIFA vice-president Ottorino Barassi saved him in his country into a shoe box under his bed.
Excitement sparked the theft of Coupe Jules Rimet before the World Cup 1966. The trophy, a short time before again betrayed by the Brazilian Football Federation the care of FIFA, was part of an exhibition sport in stamps in the London Westminster Central Hall when he disappeared on March 20, 1966, while in another part of the building, a service was held. Exactly one week later, the Cup then found again; a dog named Pickles poked him on when going for a walk in a front yard in south London.
After the Coupe Jules Rimet was found after the 1970 World Cup to their permanent place in Brazil, it was stolen in Rio de Janeiro on 19 December 1983, an association showcase again. Since the thieves have melted the cup after the police investigation, the Brazilian Football Association is now in possession of a copy that was made in Hanau and 1984 passed in the local German Goldsmiths' House Brazilian delegation.
Successor
Successor of Coupe Jules Rimet, the FIFA World Cup Trophy. He's since the 1974 World Cup and the trophy will not be awarded in contrast to its predecessor, but the winner will receive a copy that he must return afterwards for four years. After three wins in a row, the respective association shall retain the copy permanent. The original remains for safety in the care of FIFA.
