Fighting is an American action drama directed by Dito Montiel from the year 2009. Montiel's second feature film mixes doing martial arts elements with the daily struggle for survival of city dwellers.
In Germany the film was shown in theaters on 10 September 2009.
Action
New York City in the present. Underdog Shawn MacArthur, a former wrestler with moral beliefs, keeps since his arrival in the metropolis with small shops afloat by selling fake Harry Potter books and iPods. The semi- ambitious activities of the loner hardly rich but to pay the rent. In addition, Shawn's situation worsened when he is deprived of bootleggers Harvey boarding, the controls with his gang of juvenile delinquents on a street corner, his few Habs Achen - although the newcomer to hold its own against three youths. Later, Shawn represents the seedy criminals - an observer and expert on the local scene for illegal fist fights - in a cafe. Harvey recognizes Shawn's promising potential and makes him an offer at parties of wealthy New Yorkers, at so-called bare- knuckle fights to participate.
Out of sheer need of money agrees to Shawn of the profitable partnership. The first battle wins the newcomer in a run down area, before the eyes of influential personalities. This charge it once in their Club, where he met the attractive operation Zulay, of which he feels immediately attracted. At the same time meets Shawn there on his hated companion Evan, an arrogant wrestling champion who was once taught together with him from MacArthur senior, Shawn's father, until it eventually came to a scandal; Shawn started a fight with Evan, in which the coach ( Shawn's father) in between went and was injured by his son in the scramble, prompting Shawn's disqualification occurred.
After two more battles Shawn soon acquired a high reputation as a pugilist. Finally, the big money beckons - but with questionable methods; Shawn is intentionally losing in the decisive fourth fight against his " archenemy " Evan, so as not to endanger Harvey made previously betting deposits with borrowed capital. Shawn rejects this however, as it may consider, among other things immoral. The " linked " Betting Harvey are doing secretly placed by the attractive Zulay that started a love affair with Shawn, but this conceals him first. It finally comes to the acrimonious debate between Shawn and Harvey regarding the " deliberate losing " that decides the indigenous Shawn for themselves.
After the last great battle turns out that Zulay and Shawn have arbitrarily bet on the correct winner of the event, namely Shawn, although the winner after an agreement Evan should have been. Harvey had therefore put his money on Evan and now lost everything. In the end, however, Shawn over to the overjoyed Harvey one million U.S. dollars he won from the sports betting. In the last scene, Shawn, Harvey, Zulay and Annex New York to Chicago and leave California. (This is not clear in the film where you actually decide to go aswell ).

The lexicon of the International film wrote that the " ambiguous " production had " a lot of potential to a differentiated action drama ", but come " through his made-up story and poorly drawn Supporting Actor " not on the level of relevant B- movies out.
