Fiji Water

Fiji Water is a mineral water that was at least originally taken from an artesian well in Fiji.

The water is advertised as free from any pollution because it occurs far away from major industry ( on the island of Viti Levu ) and is bottled. Therefore, the water is particularly healthy. Moreover, the water will filled by a special procedure, which prevents contact with the atmosphere, " until the consumer opens the bottle ." Although most consumers taste no difference to " normal" water, is sometimes claimed that Fiji Water has, because of its special ingredients (and their composition ) an extraordinary taste.

The FIJI Water Company LLC was founded in 1996 and the first bottles delivered in 1997 in the United States. Later they extended the sale to Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France, the Caribbean and Australia. The water has since developed particularly in the United States to a lifestyle product and was already seen in some movies. Because of their social engagement in Fiji, the company was awarded the 2004 Ace Award from the U.S. Department of State.

Critics complain that it is enormously costly to bring the water to America, and that the environment will thereby disproportionately affected. The company is responding to this criticism by a commitment to reducing the burden of production and distribution.
