Filippo Strozzi the Younger

Filippo Strozzi, called il Giovane ( the Younger ), actually Giovan Battista Strozzi (* January 4, 1489, † December 18, 1538 ) was a member of the Florentine patrician family Strozzi.

He was the son of the elder Filippo Strozzi and was with Clara de ' Medici (1493-1528), sister of Lorenzo II de Medici, married.

He entered, however - after initial support - its hegemony against and then was one of the leaders in the successful rebellion of 1527: When he, above all, his wife, their weight threw into the scale against the Medici, and the magistrates themselves then for their exclusion uttered by the power of Silvio Passerini, Ippolito de ' Medici and Alessandro de Medici left on May 17, 1527 town.
